Atonemo and NTS launch pocket-sized radio player with icon wheel

architecture-design · 2026-06-22

Atonemo, a Swedish technology firm, has collaborated with the online radio platform NTS to create the Atonemo NTS Radio Player, a compact wireless music streaming device. This gadget connects to any speaker or amplifier, allowing users to browse through NTS's 16 expertly curated 'Infinite Mixtapes' by rotating a physical wheel adorned with emoji-like symbols (such as a smiley face, sun, and microphone). Users can toggle between live broadcasts on NTS Radio 1 and 2 using two prominent buttons. The player is capable of 24-bit/192kHz playback and supports AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect. Atonemo co-founder Noah Constantinou refers to this approach as 'omakase listening,' prioritizing a curator's selection over algorithm-driven playlists, with a design that emphasizes hands-on engagement and eliminates screens, enhancing NTS's legacy of diverse, community-driven music.
