Atlas of Uncertainty Exhibition Maps African Cities Beyond Crisis Narratives

The exhibition 'Atlas of Uncertainty: Transforming African Cityscapes' is on display at Wits University’s Origins Centre in Johannesburg until 3 July 2026. It features a diverse group of artists, scholars, writers, and urban theorists who explore African cities as dynamic spaces for negotiating future possibilities rather than areas of deficiency. The showcased works include film, installation, sculpture, photography, tapestry, sound, and speculative practices, focusing on themes such as mobility, memory, infrastructure, migration, repair, and belonging. This initiative is part of a larger interdisciplinary project that will also include a forthcoming publication and digital platform aimed at challenging conventional narratives and rigid forms of knowledge.
