Atelier Glushkó transforms 36m² Rio apartment embracing structural columns

Atelier Glushkó has completed a 36-square-meter apartment renovation in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, turning an unexpected structural obstacle into a design feature. The project, led by architect Andrey Glushko, began with the intention of creating an open loft but encountered two unforeseen columns during demolition. Rather than concealing them, the design incorporated the columns as defining elements. The starting point for the entire project was a wall of Portuguese tiles, which set the aesthetic direction. The apartment is categorized under apartments and interior design, with photography by André Mortatti. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
