Atelier DARN's 'Woven' Pavilion Debuts at Art & Gavarres 2026 in Girona
Atelier DARN has unveiled 'Woven,' a temporary architectural pavilion that debuted on September 5, 2026, during the 9th Art & Gavarres International Land Art Festival in Les Gavarres, Girona, Spain. Constructed from approximately 700 modular components, each piece is 3D-printed using a biodegradable filament sourced from miscanthus and wood. The design avoids glue, rope, or synthetic materials; instead, the cross-shaped modules interlock, creating a woven form that ascends from the forest floor towards the trees. Inspired by the growth of climbing plants, the pavilion is designed to naturally integrate with its environment, eventually decomposing and becoming part of the landscape. The project, documented by photographers Anna Mas and Diego Albo Martínez, features a design team including Peker Ayan, Simay Çağ, and Bilge Kobak, with video production by Quim Paredes Baulida and Art & Gavarres. Supported by Xarxa Transversal, the pavilion reflects themes of transformation, decay, and regeneration through its entirely nature-based materials.
