Asus ProArt PA279CDV Review: Affordable OLED Monitor for Creators

Asus has released the ProArt PA279CDV, a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor aimed at non-gamers, priced at $699. It is the company's most affordable OLED display to date, competing primarily with the Dell 32 Plus QD-OLED and the Samsung 32-inch Smart Monitor M90SF. The monitor offers a 120Hz refresh rate, a stand with extensive ergonomic adjustments (swivel, tilt, rotate, and 5-inch height shift), and a port selection including two USB-C ports (one with 96W power delivery and DP Alt Mode, another for KVM switching), two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and DisplayPort Out for daisy-chaining. The on-screen display is controlled via five buttons, a joystick, and a power button, with a Display Widget app for Windows and macOS. In testing, the monitor achieved 1,038 nits in a 1% window and 917 nits in a 4% window for HDR content, and 240 nits in SDR. Color gamut coverage was 91% Adobe RGB and 98% Display P3, with excellent color accuracy on Windows, but on macOS the Delta-E was around 2.0. The monitor's speakers are poor, and macOS scaling issues persist with 4K resolution. Despite these drawbacks, the PA279CDV is praised for its affordability and strong port selection, making it a solid choice for home-office workstations and HDR content consumption.
