Assembly Archive Debuts Thistle Creek House in Wyoming's Jackson Hole Valley
Assembly Archive, led by Evan Farley, has finalized its inaugural project, Thistle Creek House, situated on a four-acre meadow in Jackson Hole Valley, Wyoming. This 3,800 sq ft home features two gabled volumes intersecting at an angle to enhance the views. The residence boasts a dark exterior, achieved through vertical yakisugi cladding from Nakamoto Forestry in Japan, with a suyaki finish that retains a textured soot layer, complemented by dark metal roofing and window frames. The smaller volume includes a double garage and a guest suite, while the main section houses three bedrooms, including the principal suite. Galleried landings overlook an entrance hall at their intersection. Farley’s background includes experience at Barkow Leibinger in Berlin and teaching at Harvard and RISD, with design influences from Teton Valley barns and cabins.
