ArtRio takes over Times Square with works by Brazilian artists

ArtRio expands internationally with the Museu a Céu Aberto project in Times Square, New York. For two weeks in May, works by Lucia Koch, Denilson Baniwa, and Rodrigo Cass will be displayed on the iconic LED panels, inserting contemporary Brazilian production into a high-visibility global circuit. The artists are represented respectively by Galeria Nara Roesler, A Gentil Carioca, and Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel. The action runs parallel to Frieze New York, a strategic moment when the city concentrates collectors, curators, and professionals. The initiative is part of ZAZ10TS, which reconfigures urban space by inserting art into the advertising logic of digital billboards. Works appear at regular intervals between commercials, creating friction between consumption, image, and aesthetic experience. The project also establishes an institutional exchange, inviting New York-based artists Ben Hagari, Erik Bergrin, and Uri Katzenstein to exhibit video works on the BlOOHd panel at Aterro do Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro, consolidating a two-way dialogue between the cities.
