Art Girl Fax Weekly: Abramović's Inflatable Planet, Peyton Copyright Suit, Supreme FW26, VERDY's Tokyo Show

The Art Girl Fax newsletter's weekly roundup highlights a playful turn in the art world. Marina Abramović, at 79, has created her first inflatable artwork, 'Snowy/Windy/Spring on Planet Z', now on view at New York's Balloon Museum in its inaugural 'Daydream' exhibition. Inspired by an imaginary planet from her childhood, the installation features inflatable grass, flying paper snow, and a soundscape narrated by the artist. Meanwhile, a copyright lawsuit has been filed by Welsh photographer Justin Thomas against Elizabeth Peyton, David Zwirner, and Sotheby's over Peyton's 1996 painting 'Earl's Court (Liam + Noel)', which sold for $1.92 million in May. Thomas claims the painting copied his 1995 photograph of the Gallagher brothers. In fashion, Supreme's Fall/Winter 2026 collection features works by artists including Rita Ackermann, Larry Clark, Art Dealer, Shaun Crawford, and James O'Barr, with Art Dealer returning for a third season. In Tokyo, VERDY and collaborator Paulo Calle have curated 'In Good Company' at GYRE Gallery, featuring 14 artists who inspired them, including Coco Capitán, Reginald Sylvester II, Alake Shilling, Shaniqwa Jarvis, and Zoé Blue M. The show runs through September 27.
