Arquitecturas Afectivas: A Madrid-Based Community for Affective Architecture
Mauro Gil-Fournier Esquerra (born Burgos, 1978) is a doctor architect, researcher, and professor. After a 15-year professional career, he founded Arquitecturas Afectivas in Madrid, a community that practices architecture with pleasure, developing the affections of people, other beings, and living things. His work operates in a multiple, interscalar, and colocalized environment where projects emerge and knowledge is shared openly. Previously, he co-founded numerous projects and offices including estudiofam (2003), vivero de iniciativas ciudadanas (2008), and estudiosic (2009). Since 2017, he has co-directed the European project Mares de Madrid under the EU's Urban Innovative Actions program (2017-2019). He also co-produces the digital platform for citizen innovation civics.cc, which was awarded by the EULAC foundation as the best Ibero-American citizen initiative (2018). He was a Fellow Residence at Art OMI, New York (2019). His projects have been published widely.
