architecture-design · 2026-09-16

The MSC Cruise Terminal at Port Miami, designed by Arquitectonica, has officially opened, marking it as the largest cruise terminal in the world, with the capacity to accommodate three ships at once. Spanning 492,000 square feet, the terminal can handle up to 36,000 passengers daily and boasts a sleek, elongated architecture, complete with a spacious lobby and VIP lounges. Situated on Dodge Island, nestled between Downtown Miami and Miami Beach, it facilitates efficient loading with simultaneous embarkation and debarkation. Serving MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, it includes a parking garage for 2,400 cars and features biometric screening. Construction began in 2022, and it was inaugurated in April 2025, joining another terminal by Arquitectonica for Virgin Voyages, finished in 2022. The facility aims for LEED Gold certification.
