Arnoldo Foà: A Centenary Tribute to a Titan of Italian Culture

Arnoldo Foà (Ferrara, 24 January 1916 – Rome, 11 January 2014) would have celebrated his 104th birthday on 24 January 2020. In remembrance of his contributions, a documentary by Giancarlo Baudena, the Premio Arnoldo Foà, and the exhibition 'Arnoldo Foà. Una vita lunga un secolo' are planned for 2020. His wife, Anna Procaccini Foà, is advocating for a theatre to be named in his honor. Foà, who came from a Jewish background, became a member of the Opera nazionale balilla at the age of 15. He faced expulsion in 1938 due to racial laws and made his debut later that same year. His career spanned theatre, radio, and television, where he acted, hosted, and directed, achieving recognition in the 1960s and winning the Nastro d'Argento in 2003. His autobiography was released in 2009.
