Arndt Collection Expands to Greece with Salon and Artist Residency
Matthias and Tiffany Wood-Arndt are bringing their nomadic collection to Greece. In Kypseli, Athens, they have restored a 1930s apartment to create the Arndt Salon and Private Artspace, which opened with the exhibition 'HOMECOMING' curated by Polina Kosmadaki, running until July 18, 2026. On the island of Samos, a former olive press will be transformed into an artist residency opening this summer. The couple's collection of 350–400 works, housed in their Australian space The Artbarn, includes pieces by Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, George Condo, and Aboriginal artists. They began collecting in 2015 after shifting from gallery ownership to private art advisory. Matthias Arndt cites his first encounter with art at age 14–15 at the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt, where he saw a Beuys installation. The couple's foundation has donated works to the National Galleries of Melbourne and Berlin.
