Armadillo launches Meridian rug collection with handwoven natural fibres

Armadillo, an Australian brand, has unveiled the Meridian collection, which consists of nine handwoven rugs crafted by talented artisans in India. This collection focuses on subtle differences in color and texture, utilizing natural materials and construction methods while steering clear of vibrant hues. Co-founder Jodie Fried remarked that natural fibers possess an unmatched depth, with their inherent strength and slight irregularities contributing to each rug's unique character. The assortment features minimalist flat-weave designs, luxurious cut pile, and sturdy looped styles, incorporating high-quality materials like New Zealand wool and Indian jute. A highlight is Selva, an "elevated interpretation" of the classic kilim rug, showcasing patchwork-like variations from three types of Afghan wool yarn. Selva comes in earthy shades: Desert, Silt, Walnut, or undyed Oat, finished with a small cotton fringe that complements the weft. The collection was showcased on Dezeen Showroom, a platform for product launches.
