Arkina's Casa Rosabaya: Twelve Ocean-View Bedrooms on a 37-Meter Dominican Coastline

Completed in 2021 on a seafront plot in the Dominican Republic, Casa Rosabaya was designed by the architecture studio Arkina, whose principal architects Monica Desangles and Joey Rapaglia led the project. The house occupies 1,300 m² and was conceived around a geometric problem: fitting twelve bedrooms, each with a water view, onto a site with only 37 meters of frontage along the sea. Curated by Valentina Díaz, the project is documented in photographs by Victor Stonem and presented under the residential category "Casas." The design team's own project description frames the commission as a geometric challenge from the outset, with the constraint of the narrow coastal front determining how the twelve rooms were arranged to preserve sightlines to the water. The project's submission materials list the architects, the 2021 completion year, the 1,300 m² area, the photographer and the curator alongside the country of origin, the Dominican Republic.
