Architects of Absence: Surreal Group Exhibition at Gallery Wendi Norris

Gallery Wendi Norris in San Francisco presents 'Architects of Absence,' a group exhibition exploring the interplay of presence, memory, and time through surreal works. The show features Dabin Ahn, Selva Aparicio, Remedios Varo (1908–1963), Marcel Jean (1900–1993), and Yaxkin Fuentes-Barrientos. Fuentes-Barrientos, currently artist-in-residence at Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House in Buffalo, New York, carves fallen leaves onto disused clay roof tiles sourced from the site. Ahn's meditations on loss incorporate materials like jasper, brass, and mother-of-pearl. The exhibition draws on Jean-Paul Sartre's concept of absence as presence from 'Being and Nothingness' (1943).
