Apple Music Unveils Sound-Driven Visual Identity Created with Fred Again..

architecture-design · 2026-10-21

Apple Music has launched a new look, inspired by the vibrations of music played in a shallow pool of mineral oil. British producer Fred Again.. teamed up on this innovative project, turning sound into visual art. He, along with Nest Acoustics, created a short musical piece that serves as the brand’s audio identity. By using a transducer, they transformed audio signals into vibrations, which made the oil dance and refract on camera, forming the basis of their redesign focused on the concept of being 'made by sound.' The updated wordmark merges the Apple logo with a bold lowercase version of Apple's SF Pro font, while a new musical note icon captures the visual patterns filmed. This effort involved extensive sound and visual experimentation, resulting in a companion film that illustrates the process from composition to the completed identity. The design reflects Apple’s Liquid Glass style introduced in 2025. The logo was first shown last month at the opening of Apple Music Hall, a new live venue in London, with a full rollout expected this week.
