Appartamento Spagnolo Showcases Spanish Interior Design at Milan Design Week 2026

At the 2026 Milan Design Week, ICEX and Elle Decor Italia unveiled the fourth iteration of Appartamento Spagnolo, showcasing modern Spanish interior design at Palazzo Castiglioni. Curated by Elle Decor Italia and organized by Interiors from Spain, the exhibition reimagined the historic venue as a temporary home. Studiopepe, established by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto, conceptualized the space as a "house within a house," employing lightweight, reversible materials to create distinct areas. The design featured a non-linear flow connecting six environments: living, dining, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and transitional spaces, with semi-transparent metal mesh curtains as dividers for visual continuity. A color scheme of dark brown and chocolate, highlighted by pastel green and acid yellow, complemented integrated lighting. The installation included works from 21 Spanish brands, and Philippe Starck remarked in an ArchDaily interview that "creativity is the best result for human intelligence." The project exemplified "reversible architecture" with its modular and demountable elements.
