Apostolos Sideris Quintet to Perform at Jass Club on October 8

Bassist Apostolos Sideris will lead a new quintet at Jass Club on October 8, featuring Andrea Romani on ney and flute, Lina Belaïd on cello, Wadie Naïm on percussion, and Srdjan Ivanovic on drums. The ensemble's music, described by Radio France's Yvan Amar as blending Mediterranean oriental sounds, Ottoman spirituality, and American urgency, is captured under the title 'Past-Presented!'—a jazz infused with eastern flavors or oriental music whipped by swing. Born in Athens in 1978, Sideris began his musical training on flute and later double bass. His jazz studies took him to Berklee School of Music in Boston and the City College of New York, where he earned a master's in jazz performance under bassist John Patitucci. He has performed with a wide range of artists spanning modern jazz, world music, and beyond, and after extended stays in New York and Istanbul, he now resides in Paris. This quintet marks a new collaboration for Sideris, bringing together musicians from diverse backgrounds. The concert is a partner event of Club Artistik Rezo.
