Antonio Barahona's 'ÍNDEX BLAU' at Sala Parés: Andalusian Patios in Blue

Seville-born painter Antonio Barahona, son and grandson of painters, is presenting his solo exhibition 'ÍNDEX BLAU' at Sala Parés in Barcelona from June 4 to September 10, 2026. The show features works inspired by Andalusian courtyards and the color blue, which the artist associates with calmness and Mediterranean roots. Barahona, who studied Fine Arts at the University of Seville and has exhibited across Spain and Europe, was selected for programs like Iniciarte and the Fundación Antonio Gala scholarships. His figurative paintings depict transit spaces—interiors, hallways, and patios—with chairs, tables, bathtubs, parasols, and fabrics, evoking a warm Andalusia without falling into folklore. The artist consciously chooses slow, reflective subjects as a resistance to fast-paced digital consumption, emphasizing the time of execution and contemplation. He does not seek to fit into prevailing thematic or technical trends but finds joy in capturing everyday beauty. Barahona's work aims to offer enjoyment and kindness rather than specific messages. He reflects on identity and the timelessness of essential things, stating, 'Because the future is something very old. Because the essential does not change. Because blue is in no hurry.'
