Antonello Ghezzi's Shooting Stars Installed Permanently on Company Facade in Stezzano

The Italian artist duo Antonello Ghezzi has installed a permanent version of their light installation 'Shooting Stars' on the facade of Gelmini Srl in Stezzano, near Bergamo. The work, previously shown in 2025 at the Contemporary Locus 17 project at Bergamo's Monumental Cemetery, now enters a productive context. The installation is connected in real-time to the astronomical detection systems of the National Institute of Astrophysics and the Croce del Nord radio telescope. Each time a meteor is recorded in the Mediterranean sky, a luminous bar on the facade lights up, occurring on average once per minute. The work translates a scientific datum into a collective visual experience, inviting viewers to make a wish. The new location continues the collaboration with Contemporary Locus, which had involved 35 institutions. Gelmini Srl, founded in Bergamo in 1907 and specialized in steel construction, commissioned the work for its new offices designed by Studio Capitanio Architetti. The artists Nadia Antonello and Paolo Ghezzi, who formed the duo in 2009, describe the work as an invitation to look up and dream. The installation is visible to employees, passersby, and cyclists.
