Anohni Curates "Jesus as a Girl" at Made in Cloister, Naples

exhibition · 2026-10-22

From October 17, 2026, to March 6, 2027, Anohni will showcase "Jesus as a Girl" at Made in Cloister in Naples. This exhibition, characterized by its low lighting, includes wall-mounted masks and collages that address Campania's responses to fascism, colonialism, and the oil sector, alongside swans gliding over an unseen lake. A prominent white sculpture, crafted with local artisans, represents the "Angel of Death," drawing inspiration from Kali and symbolizing renewal. Anohni's current work contrasts with her 1995 creation "Miracle Now," which emphasized regeneration from waste materials. The exhibition delves into themes of despair and optimism, indicating that the present can transform past tragedies and encourage both personal and communal rebirth, unveiling latent energies.
