Anna Perach's 'Dis/Enchanted Interiors' at MAD Murate Art District, Florence

Ukrainian-born artist Anna Perach (b. 1985, Zaporizhzhia) presents her solo exhibition 'Dis/Enchanted Interiors' at MAD – Murate Art District in Florence, curated by Valentina Gensini and Veronica Caciolli. The show runs until July 12, 2026, and features works from 2019 onward that explore the female body as a site of myth, protest, and folklore. Perach, who grew up in Israel and trained in the UK, had a solo show at Gasworks in London in 2024. Her practice uses wearable sculptures, textiles, and performance to critique patriarchal systems and gender stereotypes, drawing on Balkan folklore, domestic spaces, and maternal archetypes. Key works include 'Mother of Egg' (2019), where a mother bird protects a fragile egg, and corsets inspired by Guy de Maupassant's 'Mother of Monsters'. Two new works, 'Tin Woman (Red)' and 'Tin Woman (Bells)', reference the Tin Man from 'The Wizard of Oz' and incorporate family heirlooms. The exhibition also extends to the Museo di Antropologia e Etnologia di Firenze, where Perach's installation 'Mother Tongue' features African masks reproduced on postcards in a dispenser at the museum entrance, engaging with history and overtourism.
