Anna Kevrel's Meta-tales: Dreamlike Photography Blending Fairy Tale and Sci-Fi

Latvian photographer Anna Kevrel, born in Riga in 1984 and now based in Moscow, has released her series Meta-tales, a body of work that constructs a dreamlike universe blending fairy tale and science fiction. After studying economics and working in finance, Kevrel abandoned that career to pursue visual research, developing a language that combines photography, set design, costumes, and imagination. Her images possess the charm of ancient fairy tales and the unease of the present technological era, using masks, costumes, and sets as symbolic elements to explore the delicate relationship between humans, nature, and artificial intelligence. Each photograph functions as a small contemporary myth, reflecting a possible new worldview where boundaries between past heroes, fantastic future images, and real figures dissolve.
