Anna Irina Russell's 'Neix en l’aire la primera flor' at Museo Can Mario

At Museo Can Mario in Palafrugell, Anna Irina Russell's exhibition titled 'Neix en l’aire la primera flor,' curated by blanca arias, delves into the concepts of breathing as both a poetic and political gesture. The display encompasses sculptures, installations, and drawings structured around three themes: 'Inspirar' (inhale), 'Espirar' (exhale), and 'Aspirar' (aspire). The 'Inspirar' section showcases inflatable sculptures resembling lungs, while 'Espirar' focuses on environmental interactions. 'Aspirar' features deflated pieces that imply change. Additionally, drawings illustrate the movement of air akin to choreography. The exhibition wraps up with works by Joana Torres, Russell's grandmother. Born in Barcelona in 1993, Russell studied Fine Arts and Sound Art and has received numerous accolades, including the 'Because of Many Suns' award in 2025 and the Premi Miquel Casablancas in 2022.
