Anita Glesta Projects Hudson Canyon Marine Life Onto Brooklyn Bridge

exhibition · 2026-09-15

On September 25 and 26, from 7 PM to 10 PM, artist Anita Glesta will illuminate the Brooklyn Bridge with her projection, AQUA COSMOS: The Hudson Canyon (2026). The best viewing location is Emily Warren Roebling Plaza at Brooklyn Bridge Park. This artwork is part of Climate Week NYC and is a collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and ArtW. Hudson Canyon, located 100 miles from New York City, is 2.5 miles deep and 7.5 miles wide, teeming with various marine species. The projection, inspired by WCS's 1925 Arcturus expedition, features archival footage, images, and Glesta's creations, along with ocean sounds. John F. Calvelli highlighted WCS's initiative to designate Hudson Canyon as a National Marine Sanctuary to safeguard it from offshore drilling.
