Anish Kapoor's Paintings at Palazzo Corvaja for Tao Buk 2026

Two paintings by Anish Kapoor are on display at Palazzo Corvaja in Taormina as part of the Tao Buk 2026 festival, promoted by Galleria Continua and curated by Arturo Galansino, director of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. The exhibition runs until June 25. Kapoor, known for his sculptural voids and exploration of color, presented works that are material and blood-like, reflecting his interest in fractures and darkness. During an interview with Galansino in Piazza IX Aprile, Kapoor referenced Marx, Kant, Apollinaire, and Paul Valéry, and described his art as leading the viewer to the edge of the abyss. He discussed his multicultural background—Indian father, Iraqi Jewish mother, Muslim wife—and advocated for cultural syncretism, criticizing exclusive cultural attitudes. He cited Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman as influences. The event had many empty seats, which Kapoor interpreted as a space for the invisible victims of injustice.
