Andy Burnham to Appear on Celebrity Gogglebox for Stand Up To Cancer

Andy Burnham is set to join Liverpool City Region mayor Steve Rotheram in a special celebrity edition of Channel 4's Gogglebox. Both former Labour MPs, they transitioned to regional mayors in 2017 and are now supporting Stand Up 4 Cancer, a campaign in collaboration with Cancer Research UK. Rotheram humorously noted he agreed to participate to prevent Burnham from appearing as "Billy No-Mates" on the Downing Street sofa. The episode will be broadcast on Channel 4 at 21:05 BST this Friday and will also feature comedian Joe Lycett and Sugababes members Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy. A Channel 4 representative stated that no topic would be "off limits," allowing participants to react to significant television moments and heartfelt stories. Rotheram mentioned their struggles with a music round on a cerebral quiz show, despite their passion for music, and highlighted their differing snack preferences—he enjoys cheesy puffs, while Burnham opts for "hard, crunchy stuff." The series, narrated by Craig Cash from The Royle Family, showcases viewers watching other viewers. Previous celebrity editions have included Ed Sheeran, Joanna Lumley, and Maya Jama. Burnham and Rotheram co-authored a book outlining their vision for the future of Britain, and Rotheram supported Burnham's successful campaign in June for the Makerfield MP position.
