Anantara Tented Camp Kafue River Opens in Zambia with Design by Meg Ralph

Anantara Tented Camp Kafue River opened in September 2026 in Zambia after three years of construction. The luxury safari camp, operated by Anantara, is elevated three metres above the ground on stilts and overlooks a 1,576km stretch of the Kafue River where elephants, hippos and crocodiles are found. South African designer Meg Ralph, founder of her namesake studio, created the interiors, avoiding clichéd animal prints and colonial references in favour of abstract geometric wall hangings, fringed wall pieces, curated books on regional craftsmanship, and curved wicker lighting. The camp has ten Kafue Pool Villas and three Horizon Terrace Suites; the latter are elevated 14.3 metres and accessed by a glass lift, providing 360-degree views. Villas include private spa suites, outdoor showers, plunge pools, and kitchens. Dining options include the main Luzuba Harvestry restaurant, in-villa service, and a sunken pontoon on the river. A floating gym with Technogym equipment is the first of its kind in Africa. The camp aims to set a benchmark for eco-tourism. Stays start from £5,500 per room per night for two people sharing a suite on full board, including premium beverages, game drives and massage treatments. The property is located in Kafue National Park, and the resort will soon have its own private airstrip.
