Analogy Design's Mobile Dental Clinic for MobiDent Targets India's Oral Health Crisis

architecture-design · 2026-08-20

India is grappling with a significant oral health issue, as 90% of adults experience dental caries and more than half suffer from gum disease. Entrepreneur Vivek Madappa established MobiDent and collaborated with Analogy Design from Bangalore to launch the nation’s inaugural mobile dental clinic. Over eight years, Analogy utilized an engineering-focused strategy to tackle challenges such as compactness, hygiene, and functionality for manufacturability. Their innovative solution employs pressurized air and water, cutting the number of components in half. The modular design effectively separates instruments from the compressor, streamlining assembly. Based on the Oral Health Observatory's 2014 findings, the initiative underscores the economic impact of untreated oral health issues. Analogy received the title of India’s Best Design Studio for 2025–26 at the IBDA Awards, enhancing dental care access in underserved areas.
