Amy Winehouse's Personal Effects Reimagined in Free London Art Exhibitions
Alex Margo Arden's exhibition Nothing Personal, on view at the Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation until 23 January 2027, presents duplicates of items once owned by Amy Winehouse, including makeup, Vogue magazines, board games, and books. Arden sourced these objects through archive research and auction records, displaying them in a Chelsea flat. The show examines celebrity fetishization, featuring a pair of ballet pumps signed by fans and a birthday card from Mark Ronson and Adele that Winehouse never opened. Concurrently, Yuko Mohri's In Concert at the Barbican Curve until 24 January 2027 transforms water leaks into musical instruments, with drips triggering cymbals and drums, and sensors responding to moisture in rotting fruit and air currents. Yuyan Wang's Pilgrims at Emalin until 14 November includes a film inspired by China's 2018 artificial moon initiative, juxtaposing moths with footage of mines and fireworks, plus a video of humanoid robots in Shoreditch church's crypt. Rebecca Warren's There Will Be Another You at Maureen Paley until 12 December marks her first London show in 16 years, featuring lumpy unfired clay and bronze figures that evoke a post-apocalyptic rococo. William Kentridge's A Nicely Built City at Goodman Gallery until 20 December? (check source) displays animated films about Johannesburg's decline, with charcoal drawings and sculptures, including the character Soho Eckstein. All exhibitions are free to attend.
