Amerindia: 14 Artists Explore Continental Identity in Bogotá Exhibition

The Centro Colombo Americano de Bogotá is showcasing 'Amerindia: diálogos entre caminos, parajes y peregrinos,' curated by Óscar Roldán-Alzate. This exhibition features works from 14 artists who explore the historical imposition of the term 'America' and the continent's intricate identity. Running until September 12, 2026, it was previously exhibited at the Galería de Arte Contemporáneo Paul Bardwell in Medellín. The theme of pilgrimage serves as a metaphor for identity and resistance, steering clear of nostalgia for precolonial times. Notably, Adolfo Bernal presents his new piece 'Piedras precolombinas,' a reimagining of his 1986 work with three painted granite stones. The Bogotá iteration offers a more concentrated symbol arrangement, clarifying its thesis while diminishing ambiguity, and engages with Jacques Rancière's concepts on art and politics.
