American University in Dubai interior design students showcase maternal wellness centre and other projects

The American University in Dubai (AUD) presented interior design projects from its graduating class, including a maternal wellness centre, a youth sports facility, and a wildlife research hub. The projects were part of the IDES 492 Capstone Design and IDES 441 Senior Thesis courses, tutored by Chadi El Tabbah, Edoardo Rizzuti, and Annamaria Lambri. The AUD Interior Design Senior Showcase, held in June, concluded with an awards ceremony featuring new industry awards from MillerKnoll and Love That Design. Notable projects include 'Athar, Maternal Wellness Hub' by Aisha Alsamt, a non-clinical centre for prenatal and postnatal support; 'Next Play' by Kalina Harmandzhieva, a youth sports and recovery facility emphasizing rest; and 'Ard' by Youssef Lotfy, a desert wildlife research hub at Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve. Other projects address waste-to-architecture (Cathlyn Nassif's 'Regenesis'), women-only spaces (Zain Abu-Dahrouj's 'Al Asalah Club'), intergenerational bonding (Moaza Almheiri's 'The Bond Hub'), and sustainable farming (Amani Al Redha's 'Sprout'). The showcase highlighted creativity, sustainability, and technical expertise across diverse design approaches.
