Amel Bashier's 'Essence of Life' at ZOLLAMM MMK, Frankfurt

Amel Bashier, a Sudanese artist born in 1981, will unveil her inaugural institutional solo exhibition titled 'Essence of Life' at ZOLLAMM MMK in Frankfurt from 12 September 2026 to 10 January 2027. This exhibition showcases a variety of new works specifically created for this event, focusing on women whose labor, resilience, and presence are vital to communities yet often go unnoticed. Bashier portrays her female subjects in various settings—individually, in groups, and larger assemblies—illustrating their strength, tenderness, vulnerability, and contemplation. Influenced by Nubian, Assyrian, and Indian artistic traditions, her work features enlarged hands and feet, vibrant colors, symmetry, and flat compositions, inviting viewers to reflect on the visibility of women's contributions and stories.
