Ambrosia Keyboardist Christopher North Passes Away at 75

Christopher North, a founding member and keyboardist of the soft-rock band Ambrosia, died on Monday at a hospice in Los Angeles. He was 75 years old. His death was confirmed by bandmate Joe Puerta, who cited throat cancer as the cause. North had been seriously injured in late 2025 after being struck by a car while entering Fromin's deli in Santa Monica. Ambrosia, known for hits like 'How Much I Feel' and 'Biggest Part of Me,' praised North on their Facebook page, calling him 'the Hammond B3 King' and noting his contributions to progressive and soft rock. The band formed in 1970 with North, Puerta on bass, singer-guitarist David Pack, and drummer Burleigh Drummond. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1975, and they later shifted to a smoother sound, exemplified by the 1978 album 'Life Beyond L.A.' Ambrosia achieved several top 40 hits in the late 1970s, with two songs reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their music is now considered part of the yacht rock genre, with tracks like 'How Much I Feel' garnering over 120 million streams on Spotify. The band disbanded in 1982 but reunited in 1989, with North continuing to perform after Pack's departure. North is survived by a brother and two children.
