Almuzara Books Announces Fifth Painting Prize with €10,000 Award
Almuzara Books has launched the fifth edition of its painting prize, offering a €10,000 award to promote art and culture through painting. Artists aged 18 or older, of any nationality but legally residing in Spain, can submit works that relate directly or indirectly to the world of books, with no restrictions on technique. The submission period runs from September 1, 2026, to October 15, 2026. A jury of distinguished professionals from arts, painting, books, art history, academia, science, and aesthetics will select and evaluate entries. Up to two additional honorable mentions may be awarded with diplomas but no monetary prize. The winner will be announced during the opening of a painting exhibition in December 2026 at the publisher's headquarters in Madrid's Barrio de las Letras, alongside other selected works. Carlos Tárdez won the fourth edition with his piece 'Todo y nada más', photographed by Amalia Calvo de la Rosa. Full competition rules are available online.
