Alina Grasmann Transforms Villa Necchi Campiglio into Psychological Landscapes at Rolando Anselmi

In Rome, Rolando Anselmi showcases "House Taken Over," a solo exhibition that marks the end of Alina Grasmann's residency. The exhibition presents fresh paintings that reinterpret Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan, a structure crafted by Piero Portaluppi in the early 1930s. Born in Munich in 1989, Grasmann employs architecture to forge psychological spaces, intertwining realism with fiction. Her work captures the villa's emotional depth, presenting fragmented interiors that convey emotional strife. The theme of sisterhood is prevalent, with many paintings displayed in pairs, offering complementary views. Reflections and light disrupt Portaluppi's modernist geometry, transforming the interiors into cinematic experiences.
