Ali Tamim's Award-Winning Film "Noah" on Racist Police Violence Set for 2027 Release
Berlin-Neukölln filmmaker Ali Tamim's award-winning film "Noah," which addresses racist police violence, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in 2027. Tamim, a screenwriter, director and Palestinian based in the Berlin district of Neukölln, described being stopped and lined up against a wall by police officers when he was just eight years old. In an interview conducted while walking along Karl-Marx-Straße, parallel to Sonnenallee, he discussed why the Gaza protests affect him so deeply. For several months he has been seeking inspiration for his next screenplay on foot. The conversation was arranged to begin at 10 a.m. at the McDonald's on Hermannplatz, though the two continued on foot rather than staying inside; Tamim arrived wearing a dark pair of sunglasses and a black parka. The interviewer and Tamim first became acquainted during the Corona pandemic through a modern form of pen friendship conducted over Twitter. The full interview appears in the current issue of the Freitag publication.
