Alexandra Phillips: Atelier Visit at Brutus, Rotterdam
Born in 1988 in Port Chester, NY, and raised in Winston-Salem, NC, Alexandra Phillips has been operating since 2023 in the former Galerie Wilfried Lentz area within the Brutus complex in Rotterdam. Uniquely, she is the sole artist at Brutus who rents her studio independently. Inside, her work includes basic objects, such as a sand-hued piece that resembles aged plastic. Phillips draws inspiration from 'Barbarians at the Gate' and has an art education from the North Carolina School of the Arts, Penland School of Crafts, and the Kansas City Art Institute. She has showcased her work in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, taught at Gerrit Rietveld Academie, and is represented by Coppejans Gallery. Her studio will be part of the Groot Rotterdams Atelier Weekend on September 19-20.
