Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg's Pollinator Pathmaker Reaches All 20 Berlin Districts With 83 Wild Bee Species Recorded
Last year, a survey of wild bees conducted at the LAS Edition of Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg's Pollinator Pathmaker identified 83 species, surpassing the usual range of 30 to 50 found in Berlin's pollinator-friendly areas. This initiative, launched in June 2023 at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, was initiated by the LAS Art Foundation, with curator Sophie Korschildgen being the inaugural international collaborator. Currently, Berlin features 21 installations, including 20 DIY versions. Ginsberg's algorithm emphasizes the needs of pollinators over visual appeal through region-specific 'Plant Palettes.' Initially designed for the Eden Project, it has since expanded to the Serpentine in London, U.S. projects, and future installations at Google Gradient Canopy in 2025 and the Southbank Centre in 2026. The Berlin edition commenced on June 20, 2023, and is ongoing.
