Alessi, Kodak, Fiio and Hay Lead Monocle's 2026 Design Picks, With Five New Architecture Books
Philippe Malouin, a designer from London, teamed up with Alessi to create the Vite Espresso Coffee Maker. This moka pot showcases spiral ridges, a die-cast aluminium lower chamber, and a handle made from heat-resistant thermoplastic resin. Its color palette is inspired by the machinery at the Alessi factory, and it incorporates a magnetic steel base suitable for induction, gas, and electric stoves. Kodak's Snapic A1 is a 35mm film camera featuring a three-element glass lens, two-zone focus, and built-in flash with a wide focal length. Available at New York's MoMA shop, Fiio's CP13 Portable Cassette Player boasts physical buttons, USB-C charging, and a battery life of 13 hours. Additionally, Hay's stainless-steel Outdoor Market Fire Pit, designed by Jasper Morrison, is both portable and functional as a cooker. Five books include contributions from Yinka Ilori, Nifemi Marcus-Bello, Lars Müller, Tadao Ando, and Jack Lovel.
