Alessandro Valeri's 'Amour Fragile' Debuts at MY VIEW Gallery in Milan

Alessandro Valeri's exhibition 'Amour Fragile' opened at MY VIEW, a home gallery in Milan run by Federica Ghizzoni, curated by Beatrice Fellegara. The show features four large-format Polaroid works that embrace imperfection, blur, and error as creative tools. This is the first chapter of In-thymos, an international research project launched by Fellegara in 2024, coordinated by ICONE – European Research Centre in History and Theory of the Image at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, in dialogue with institutions including the Rothko Chapel in Houston, Palazzo Strozzi, the Museo del Design in Barcelona, the Venice Biennale, and Fabbrica del Vapore. Valeri, who works across photography, painting, sculpture, installation, and video, uses Polaroid's unique and vulnerable nature to assert a poetics of imperfection, where each image retains traces of its making and accepts error as integral to the creative process. The works demand slow, almost physical contemplation, reversing the contemporary visual paradigm. Fellegara describes the Polaroid medium as 'a fragile condition of approximation, an image that becomes a body and a body that becomes an abyss.' The project questions the relationship between art and audience, proposing a museum model based not on quantitative measurement but on the capacity of works to generate deep relationships.
