Alessandro Piangiamore's 'La polvere ci mostra che la luce esiste' at Repetto Gallery, Lugano

Alessandro Piangiamore (born 1976, Enna) presents his solo exhibition 'La polvere ci mostra che la luce esiste' at Galleria Repetto in Lugano, running until June 26. The show marks his artistic maturity, inspired by Georges Didi-Huberman's essay on suspended dust. Central works include a triangular expanse of volcanic ash from Mount Etna (from the series 'Il cacciatore di polvere', 2018-2026), glass sculptures sealing perfumed essences ('After-Life', 2016-2026), and funereal floral compositions in cement ('Ieri ikebana', 2016-2026). The exhibition also features ink prints on paper ('Qualche uccello si perde nel cielo', 2021-2026), a rainbow installation in frosted glass ('Giove pittore di farfalle', 2022, inspired by Dosso Dossi), and a video ('Te lo prometterò', 2025). Piangiamore's practice engages with the Italian metaphysical tradition and the cathartic function of art, exploring themes of death, resurrection, and the material sublime. The show is accompanied by a catalogue with text by literary critic Andrea Cortellessa.
