Ale Senso's Monumental Mural Transforms Industrial Site Near Rome into Human Atlas
Italian artist Ale Senso has completed 'Antropìa', a monumental 630-square-meter mural at an industrial facility in Castelnuovo di Porto, near Rome. The work transforms a 10-meter-high steel fire-fighting tank and an adjacent technical building into a narrative device exploring human nature. The tank features ten stories from global traditions, including Polynesian shell-universe myths, the Argentine Ombú tree, Cherokee two-wolves legend, Şahmeran, and Aesop's donkey, plus Trilussa's 'La Statistica' in Romanesco dialect. A painted crack disrupts the geometric frieze connecting the tales, symbolizing fragility within cultural systems. The adjacent building, 'Ara degli antenati', displays a collective dance inspired by Valcamonica rock art, Egyptian baboon of Thoth, and Marquesas Islands Tiki figures. Industrial pipes are repurposed as migration maps. Commissioned and funded by Prologis through its PARKlife™ program, the project integrates art into a working logistics area, aiming to build cultural relationships between productive landscapes and communities.
