Albanian PM Edi Rama unveils bronze sculpture at Art Basel Parcours

Edi Rama, Albania's prime minister, is exhibiting a bronze sculpture titled Untitled (2026) at Art Basel's Parcours section. The work stands at the end of Clarastrasse overlooking the Rhine. Société gallery in Berlin added Rama to its roster last October; he is also represented by Marian Goodman Gallery. The sculpture was created from drawings made at the Kryeministria, Albania's seat of government, during and between meetings. Rama's current show at Société, Chrysalizing (until 27 June), features new bronze sculptures. The Parcours piece is a version of a bronze in Société's garden with a different patina color. Rama, who secured a fourth term in May 2025, trained at Tirana's Academy of Fine Arts and worked in Paris before entering politics. He became prime minister in 2013 and has exhibited at Centre Pompidou (2010) and Venice Biennale (2017). His tenure has faced controversy; deputy prime minister Belinda Balluku was suspended over a corruption scandal in November 2025 and dismissed in February 2026.
