Alan Louis's Ceramics at Lisbon Design Week 2026

French artist, designer, and ceramicist Alan Louis presented his work at Fantastic Frank Lisbon during Lisbon Design Week 2026 (LDW26). Born in Brittany in 1992, Louis is self-taught and based in Portugal. His career began in 2021 after leaving the Navy. His ceramics feature restrained palettes of sand, stone, and shadow, with spikes and smooth volumes creating a duality of softness and tension. At Fantastic Frank, his sculptural furniture and objects were displayed in a domestic setting. Louis also showed his Era and Narciso collections at Lisbon by Design, held at Palacete Gomes Freire, occupying an entire room. LDW26 included a Spotlight section for individual presentations, featuring Louis. His work explores inner conflict, with spikes as metaphors for harder aspects of self. Louis described ceramics as "a material in motion until the object is fired and cooled" and appreciates its elusiveness.
