Alaïa Reopens Shanghai Boutique with Perforated Facade and Curved Interior

Alaïa has reopened its boutique on the third floor of Plaza 66 in Shanghai, China, showcasing an interior characterized by curved lines and geometric shapes, incorporating materials such as Carrara marble, Macassar ebony wood, stainless steel, and nude-toned leather. A centerpiece of the boutique is a sculpture titled 'Things I Couldn’t Forget – Nose Ornament, Quimbaya, Colombia' (2019) by Chinese artist Guan Xiao. The storefront features circular geometric designs that reinterpret Alaïa’s signature perforated motif, complemented by a glass facade that links the boutique to the mall. Inside, the blend of organic curves and strict geometries embodies the brand's design ethos, enhanced by selected pieces from Sergio Rodrigues and furniture by Philippe Malouin, marking a pivotal moment for Alaïa in Shanghai, where fashion, architecture, and art converge.
