Alabastro di Spirito's 'Guarda il cielo' at MAF Forlimpopoli

The MAF | Museo Archeologico di Forlimpopoli presents 'Guarda il cielo', a solo exhibition by Alabastro di Spirito (architect Massimo Rovereti), curated by Azzurra Immediato. Running from June 12 to July 5, 2026, the show creates an unprecedented dialogue between archaeological artifacts and contemporary imagination. The artist's mutant figures—assembled bodies, hybrid presences, and transforming creatures—are displayed alongside ancient amphorae, ceramic fragments, mosaics, and jewelry. Rather than interrupting the archaeological narrative, the works insinuate themselves into it, sharing a condition of existence as traces. The exhibition explores themes of material transformation, alchemy, and the persistence of forms across human history. Rovereti's use of recovered materials transcends ecological readings, suggesting a redemptive process akin to alchemical philosophy. The title 'Guarda il cielo' (Look at the Sky) is not a consolatory formula but a symbolic orientation, recalling ancient civilizations' celestial observations against today's digital immersion. The works function as allegorical sentinels emerging from a liminal zone between memory and imagination, described as 'fossils of the future'. The exhibition is under the patronage of the Municipality of Forlimpopoli and the Department of Culture and Tourism.
