Akris Taps Olga de Amaral's Gilded Textiles for A/W 2026 Runway Collection

architecture-design · 2026-08-03

In March, Akris showcased its Autumn/Winter 2026 collection in Paris, with Albert Kriemler drawing from Olga de Amaral's Alquimia series for inspiration. The Colombian artist’s stunning pieces made from horsehair, wool, and linen influenced the luxurious gold fabrics, like the standout brocade coats. Elements from her Nudo and Lienzo series were reflected in bold fringes, and a striking gold-and-black cape coat featured a soft brocade mixed with textured foil tape that adds depth. This is Akris's first collaboration with a textile artist. Kriemler, a longtime admirer of de Amaral, visited her studio in Bogotá, where she has worked with the same team for over thirty years. Akris was founded in 1922 by Alice Kriemler-Schoch in St Gallen, and the collection is available at akris.com.
