Aki Sasamoto's Life Laboratory at National Museum of Art, Osaka

The National Museum of Art, Osaka presents 'Aki Sasamoto's Life Laboratory,' a reconfiguration of the 2025 exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. Sasamoto's practice blends sculptural thinking with bodily expression, using string, tubing, everyday objects, sound, and language to create installations that function as circuits for thoughts and emotions. She performs within these spaces, treating each work as an evolving event rather than a fixed object. Her interests range from personal memory and everyday habits to natural phenomena and ecosystems. The exhibition emphasizes process over finished results, inviting visitors to walk through the space and engage with sounds and atmosphere. New performances will be staged during the exhibition period, interweaving words, body, and objects. The show runs from July 19 to November 3, 2026, with curated contributions from Yuka Uematsu (Chief Curator, NMAO) and Keiko Okamura (Curator, MOT).
