AFINS Exhibition Explores Affinity Through Materiality and Encounter

The group exhibition 'AFINS' at Galeria Karla Osorio in Brasília, curated by Karla Osorio and artist Bené Fonteles, brings together 34 artists across generations, regions, and languages. Rather than imposing a thematic or historical narrative, the show creates conditions for relationships to emerge between artists, materials, and temporalities. The installation preserves autonomy for each artist while allowing quiet connections. A room dominated by blue tones and suspended works produces lightness; the garden becomes an extension of the exhibition with Rodrigo Bueno's installation incorporating found objects. Ernesto Neto's 'Estela Luz entre Nós' (2018) invites bodily participation. Materials like burnt wood from the Pantanal, ropes from Northeast beaches, shells from Bahia, seeds, crystals, and stones carry memory and transformation. Bené Fonteles describes creation as 'asking permission from materials to be, not imposing a form on them.' A room dedicated to Seo Constante, an artist from Minas Gerais discovered by Fonteles, features intuitive compositions and intense colors that expand the curatorial concept. The exhibition runs until July 19 in Brasília and from August 1 in a smaller format at Rua França Pinto, 1100, Vila Mariana, São Paulo.
